October 2006 UHF/SHF Contest

For this contest we went to our usual site near Whipsnade Zoo in Bedfordshire (IO91RU). We went to site on Friday 6th October to give us time to set up all of the equipment. The weather was not that great and Don, Dick and Andy spent about 20minutes hanging on to a partly erected gazebo while a very heavy rain storm passed over. The equipment used was:

An FT857 with a BNOS 100W pa/preamp on 70cm with a 36 element Tonna on a 12m pole

An FT736 with 2 x M57762 PA and an AFT10135 preamp mounted at the top of a 60 foot tower on 23cm with 4 x 36 element Tonnas

Here you can see the 23cm antenna using the bottom rotator. The 23cm PA is just below the rotator. The 13cm (44 element quad loop) and 9cm (28 element quad loop) antennas use the top rotator with the transverters mounted on the stub mast just above the rotator and 2m antenna

Here you can see the DB6NT transverter for 9cm with the 13cm DB6NT transverter with 10W PA mounted on the other side of the stub mast

The 3cm station used a DB6NT transverter with a 10W PA and preamp mounted just behind an 80cm dish on top of a 12m pole.
